MESSAGE from the BOARD PRESIDENT

Lunch Break has served the Greater Red Bank community for over 25 years. For nearly all of that time our Director Mrs. Norma Todd was the driving force and the heart and soul of our organization. Norma passes away last year and we were very fortunate that Mrs. Gwen Love agreed to become our new director.

Gwen and her staff consisting of George Lancaster and Betty Ivory along with a dedicated group of volunteers and board members have responded splendidly to the changes that are occurring at Lunch Break. We now serve 2500 hot meals each month (30.000 meals during the past year!!!), we provide food to over 65 families from the Food Pantry every month and hand out clothes in good repair to 200 families. Furthermore over 500 families received additional food, including frozen turkeys for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and 500 children received Christmas toys. We are now also open on Saturday mornings and serve bagged lunches that are prepared by members of St. Leo’s the Great Church in Lincroft.

The need for Lunch Break’ services is amply illustrated by the fact that our client population increased by more than 20 percent during the past year. We would not be able to respond to this increase if we did not have the support from our community.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to individuals, businesses, foundations, houses of worship, schools and civic organizations for contributing money, food, clothing and many hours of volunteer services.

Hans Zweerink, President
Lunch Break Board of Trustees
